Cool Sighting Of The Week:Driving home Monday evening the moon appeared very large in the eastern sky and I remembered that a friend, Bob Jackson, had said there would be a total lunar eclipse that night. I couldn't remember when or if I'd ever seen one, so I set the alarm clock for very early Tuesday morning with hope that I'd catch the eclipse. Well, needless to say, my excitement was such that I never did fall asleep and stayed awake until the eclipse began.
Taking my first trip outside around 1:30AM, I journeyed back out into the cold half a dozen more times before we reached total lunar eclipse just after 3:00AM. The wind and cold were so intense that I could only withstand a few minutes at a time, but, with the aid of a tripod, I ended up getting a bunch of great pictures of the unique celestial event.
I'll try to get the pictures onto the website soon. Either way, catching sight of the total lunar eclipse this past Tuesday morning was very cold, but was also very, very cool!
