Cool sightings of the week:Came in locally this week when I received an email with picture attachment from my buddy Steve in Bloomsbury. Steve told me a story of being near his artificial Christmas tree when, suddenly, he thought he saw an ornament fall to the floor. It was NOT an ornament, Steve wrote, so I looked at his picture to see that a small bird had perched on the trim over his bedroom door. Upon closer examination, I could see that the bird was a Carolina wren and it seemed to be just stuck there to the corner of the hallway with its legs spanning the door trim on either side of the corner and its tail in the air where the two walls meet. Steve added that the bird must have gotten into the house when he wasn't looking, but the little guy did make it out of the house safely. What a funny and unpredictable holiday treat! Steve in Bloomsbury's close encounter with a wren near his Christmas tree this week was very cool!
