Cool sightings of the week:
A couple... The first American robins of the year were spotted last week during a brief snowfall. Robins typically arrive before the spring, but this was early even for them. Perhaps they know something that we don't. Or, perhaps that's just my usually optimistic way of hoping for an early spring. Also this week, a pair of red-tailed hawks were seen circling above the job site yesterday while screeching their trailing tune. Seeing them soaring so effortlessly above the trees as they were, I was reminded of those dreams when I can fly. You know, the ones where all it takes is a thought and suddenly you find yourself flying through the sky with careless abandon. Though abandon may not be quite the right word for me since I always seem to worry about flying into the power lines or a tree. Either way, catching a glimpse of robins in the snow and experiencing a moment of childlike fantasy while watching a pair of hawks this week was very cool!
