Cool sightings of the week:I noticed something very interesting about the Christmas lights in front of the office recently while it was snowing. The lights are strung around all four sides of a large picture window and mounted inside the window to keep out of the weather. They're the old-fashioned type of Christmas lights with the big bulbs. Well, the snow had been falling for some time and it was piling up quite a bit on the windowsill outside. After a while, the Christmas lights began to shine with a sort of translucence through the snow that had settled on the windowsill. The snow had magically created an ethereal quality to the glow of the Christmas lights. The juxtaposition of colors and snow was magnificent! Adding to my delight, as the evening progressed, I could see that each bulb had melted the snow outside the window just enough to form a perfect row of what looked like colored teardrops. There were bright blue, green, orange and red teardrops of snow and the repeating pattern of shapes and colors was awesome, indeed. Winter's wonder at it's finest! Catching sight of such a rare visual treat on a cold winter's night recently was very cool!
