Ruby-throated hummingbirds and hummingbird moths, butterflies, bullfrogs, tree frogs and toads. Red squirrels, grey squirrels, opossums, chipmunks, skunks, bunnies, white-tailed deer and still a bunch of fireflies every night.
Cool Sightings Of The Week:
There was a blue-jay on the gargoyle in the garden the other day. Perched there on the gargoyle's wing, I couldn't remember if I'd ever seen a bird on it before. Then, a moment later, the first blue-jay flew off and was replaced by another who landed on the gargoyle's head, seemed to survey the area, then flew away.
Also this week, the young bunny is still hanging out near the feeders, seeming to enjoy the fine company of the many birds. There was a ruckus the other day and the bunny got spooked and ran into the nearby overgrowth. I was impressed by the rabbit's quick reflexes and noticed, particularly, how the overgrowth popped right back up after the bunny ran through, leaving no trace at all. Like the barricades in the beginning of the old Batman TV show, which would pop back up and conceal Batman and Robin's secret Bat-cave!
Welcome to the middle of summer! Finding the blue-jays honoring the gargoyle this week and catching sight of the bunny looking like the Bat-mobile was very cool!
Heard on 89.7 WDVR FM every Friday at 3PM during Anything Goes!
