Cool sighting of the week:
As briefly mentioned, the fireflies are simply amazing this time of year. I was outside with a friend the other night and thought to go around to the dark side of the garage to look over the neighbor's farm and to see what was going on there. Passing the garage corner, I found myself immediately submerged into darkness and was stopped dead in my tracks by what I saw. The fireflies over the farm field were so numerous that I was struck with awe at the incredible light show that was taking place before me. There must have been a million of the tiny fireflies and they sparkled over the field seemingly like a million tiny fairies. The normal and random progression of sparkling was astounding by itself. At times, the fireflies would flash with a more precise and coordinated timing and the effect was nothing short of overwhelming. My friend and I stood and watched the shimmering jubilee with mouths agape. Catching the late June fireflies' magical and mysterious evening dance was very cool!
