Cool sightings of the week:
I was working at the computer this past Tuesday morning with Sam the cat sitting peacefully next to me as she was looking out the window. Suddenly, Sam began to twitch and seemed agitated, or at least interested, with whatever was going on outside. I peered through the window alongside of her and saw a grey squirrel sprinting toward us with a big black walnut in it's mouth. The squirrel quickly found a recently turned spot of ground at the base of a bird feeder, then dug in a feverish manner to make a hole to put his black walnut in. Almost at once, the hole was deep enough so the squirrel placed his nut in and proceeded to cover it with the same feverish pace and movements as before.

By this time, Sam the cat was almost delirious with interest as she watched from the window, her tail swishing to and fro and her ears to the side in defense posture. We watched together as the squirrel scurried away toward the pond and Sam began to settle back down. Either way, getting to see a close up view of the squirrel burying it's booty while the cat had a fit this week was very cool!
