Celebrating one year tomorrow since the opening of BackyardTV.com, I find myself still struggling with the more difficult areas of operating the website, but have been able to make some new changes recently which visitors may enjoy. A better format for posting the weekly Backyard Reports has improved the readability of the online version. There's an easy link to WDVR at the end of each report as well, a good reminder to listen to best little radio station in the world. And, visitors to BackyardTV.com will now also find periodic links within the Backyard Reports to specific images that are mentioned. How's that for making the cool sightings even cooler? Thanks to all of you who have visited BackyardTV.com in the past year! We built it as a place of retreat from our sometimes hectic lives and hope that it may provide that relief for you as the need arises. I'm still planning to have a live video stream from the feeder cams one day soon and will let you know when that becomes a reality. Meanwhile, there are several backyard videos stored on the site that visitors may view. There's even one that features the lovely music of Chip Mergott, thanks to his benevolent courtesy. Either way, I'll try to get some new videos on the website before too long.
Backyard Tip of the week: Try to find a place of retreat in your backyard. If you don't have a suitable yard of your own, try taking a walk through any of the local nature areas and parks that are numerous in this area. You may find that perfect spot out among the trees or in a field which seems to magically help you to relax and forget about life's worries. Try it, you're sure to love it!
Backyard sightings for last week: Including northern cardinals, blue-jays, brown creepers, song sparrows, tree sparrows. Carolina wrens and chickadees, catbirds, mockingbirds, ruby-throated hummingbirds, house finches, goldfinches. Red-bellied and downy woodpeckers. Northern flickers, white-breasted nuthatches, tufted titmice, mourning doves, and a pileated woodpecker! Grey squirrels, red squirrels, chipmunks, skunks, bunnies, ground-hogs, bull-frogs and toads. Still plenty of butterflies, lots of colorful and unique moths, but nary a firefly to be found anywhere.
