Cool sightings of the week:A couple... While walking past the front yard this week I was taken aback by the many wonderful colors which grace the area this late in the year. From the purplish-pink of the thistle blooms to the bright green of the winterberry bush leaves, and the brilliant red of its berries which are known to be enjoyed by cedar waxwings, to the yellow top of the single goldenrod standing just above the surrounding flowers and the dusty rose tones of the autumn sedum. The front yard can get a little wild sometimes, it's amazing how many birds, bees, butterflies, and other insects are seen to benefit from the variety of wildflowers, bushes and trees.
Also this week, as many as seven colorful hot air balloons were spotted as they seemed to dance through the air while passing the backyard last Saturday. I particularly enjoyed the sighting and took a few minutes to watch the balloons as reward for my decision to do the outdoor chores on such a nice day. As the Autumn settles in for us here in this part of the country, finding myself overwhelmed by the lush beauty of my semi-wild front yard this week and catching sight of such a large flight of hot air balloons was very cool!
